Encapsulation Machine – Autonomous Operator

Location: Lancaster, NY Reports to: Production Supervisor

Position Summary

Responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines. Set up and operate a production machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup including cleaning feed tanks, weighing and adding raw materials, mixing or blending materials, and transporting feed tanks to point of use
  •  Operator is responsible for keeping equipment running smoothly and efficiently including in-process quality checks and order changing or size changing machines. This involves disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling machines.
  •  Visually and manually inspect finished goods for quality defects, operating the vacuum chamber and packaging/labeling of finished goods
  •  Operate/monitor multiple pieces of equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops
  • Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area
  • Perform routine maintenance

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Two years’ experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing setting preferred
  • Machine maintenance and cleaning experience preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of production procedures
  •  Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Work in a fast paced environment following standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to work well independently
  • Able to multi-task, respond to rapid change; organize, prioritize, and perform work with minimal supervision
